Toe Pain While Running? What's The Problem

Running Shoes

Next, take a look at your shoes. If you've been wearing the same shoes that you had in high school, it's time to update your kicks. Even if they're only a year old, if you've been running in them every day, they're worn. You should change your running shoes at least once per year or more often if you are wearing them often. This is because the cushion inside can wear out, as can the insole and the outer portion of the shoe. This is going to leave you without any cushion to protect your soles and offer you even less protection for the outside of your foot and ankle, which can result in injuries. Go to an athletic store and look for a new pair of running shoes that fit your feet properly.

Running Surface

The surface you are running on can also be a problem. If you aren't used to running outside, but just started running on the road or on a trail, it may be too much for you. If you've always ran on a treadmill, the treadmill doesn't have any variation in the surface, but a road or trail will. This can throw you off and your feet as well. Try backing off of how much you are running until you can get used to running on the different surface.
